One of the key pillars of the Alaska Conference is its youth. We have several ministries that support development and growth of Alaskan youth, one of which is the Pathfinder and Adventurer clubs. Similar to the Boys or Girls Scouts, Pathfinder clubs are designed for youth ages 10-15 and typically meet once per week during the school year (September through May).
Adventurers are very similar to Pathfinders, but designed with activities for children ages 4-9, typically Pre-K to fourth grade. Like Pathfinders, members meet weekly and many churches have both clubs meet on the same day for convenience to families and leaders.
Below are brief descriptions of key events as well as resources on how to start a club in your area, uniform information, leadership manuals and more.
Annual Camporee
Each year around the Memorial Day weekend, Alaska Pathfinder Clubs come together to play and fellowship.
During the weekend Pathfinders learn essential skills and earn honors like knot tying, first aid, and fire safety in hands-on workshops led by experienced leaders. They gain confidence in their abilities and earn badges along the way!
Clubs discover local wildlife, learn about native plants, and enjoy the beauty of Alaska’s wilderness. There are also team-building activities designed to strengthen bonds and courage teamwork through friendly games that test your Pathfinder’s skills and creativity.
The days end with camaraderie around the campfire where stories are shared and lifetime memories are made. Of course, roasting marshmallows and making s’more’s are important priorities as well. But the best part is spending time with friends and time with Jesus.
Weekend Winter Fair
Alaska winters are long! To provide a break from the cold weather and dark days, Pathfinders enjoy the Weekend Winter Fair! Each year a special theme is selected on which the fair is built around—model airplanes, pinewood derby, community outreach, etc. If you have an idea to share, please let us know!
The 2026 Weekend Winter Fair is January 30-31, 2026. Clubs have been planning for this event for several months! If your child would like to attend, please contact your local Pathfinder leader.
